I want to share something new that my parents never knew that I could do. I go to Music Therapy once a week at Opportunities for Positive Growth. I've been going for quite some time and I really like it.
It is a place where I can go to express myself and my feelings through Music. Lindsey is my therapist. She is kind, a good listener, and treats me like an adult.
Up until now I have attended and worked on keyboard and voice. I have also learned how to read music notation. I use this to help me play the keyboard and now guitar.
Every year OPG hosts a Christmas program of music therapy consumers. They always have the option to perform two Saturdays before Christmas. This year I surprised my parents by playing Away In the Manger on the guitar at the program. I never know I would be able to play the guitar. It made my parents so happy they had tears. They didn't know I could play it.
To end, please always remember, you can always reach your goals if you want. You just have to find the right people to support and believe in you.
If I can do it, so can you.
